Fard Acts of Hajj

Basically, there are three Fard acts of Hajj:

1- Ihram

2- Wuquf of Arafah

3- Tawaf al-Ziyarah

However, in other books of Islamic jurisprudence, seven Fard acts of Hajj are mentioned, such as:

  • Ihram
  • Wuquf of Arafah
  • Tawaf al-Ziyarah
  • Intention (Niyyat)
  • Following the order of rituals
  • Performing every Fard act at its proper time
  • Place: Wuquf must be in the plain of Arafat and Tawaf must be in Masjid al-Haram

Wajib Acts of Hajj

There are twenty-six Wajib acts of Hajj:

1-

To enter into Ihram from the Miqat.

2-

To perform Sa’i between Safa and Marwah.

3-

To start Sa’i from Safa and end at Marwah. If done otherwise, the Sa’i must be repeated.

4-

If there is no excuse, to perform Sa’i on foot.

5-

If Wuquf is done during the day, it should continue until sunset, whether it started before noon or after noon. If Wuquf is done at night, then there is no fixed limit for it.

6-

To include a part of the night in Wuquf.

7-

To stay at Muzdalifah.

8-

To offer Maghrib and Isha prayers together at the time of Isha in Muzdalifah.

9-

To throw pebbles at all three Jamarat on the 10th, 11th, and 12th of Dhul Hijjah.

10-

To perform the stoning of Jamrah Aqabah before shaving on the first day.

11-

To perform each day’s stoning on the same day.

12-

To shave the head or trim the hair.

13-

The shaving or trimming should be done during the days of sacrifice and within the Haram area.

14-

A person performing Hajj Qiran or Hajj Tamattu must offer a sacrifice.

15-

This sacrifice should be done during the days of sacrifice and within the Haram area.

16-

Most of Tawaf al-Ifadah should be performed during the days of sacrifice.

17-

Tawaf should be performed outside the Hatim area.

18-

Tawaf should be performed keeping the Kaaba on the left side.

19-

If there is no excuse, Tawaf should be performed on foot.

20-

While performing Tawaf, one should be free from major impurity such as Janabah, menstruation, and postnatal bleeding.

21-

To cover the body properly during Tawaf.

22-

To offer two Rak‘ahs of prayer after Tawaf.

23-

To maintain order in stoning, sacrifice, shaving, and Tawaf.

24-

To perform Tawaf al-Sadr (for those who live outside the Miqat).

25-

After Wuquf of Arafah, one should not have sexual relations until shaving the head.

26-

To avoid the prohibitions of Ihram, such as wearing stitched clothes and covering the face or head.
