What are the four healing things? The Hadith

There is healing for humanity in four things.

The Hadith:

أَبُو حَنِيفَةَ: عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ علیہ وسلم: جُعل الشِفَاءُ فِي الْحَبَّةِ السَّوْدَاءِ وَالْحِجَامَةِ وَالْعَسَلِ وَمَاءِ السَّمَاءِ۔

Translation:

“Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (RA) narrated that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) said: Allah Almighty has placed healing in four things: in kalonji, in the cupping therapy, in honey and in heavenly water.”

This hadith is “hadith number 441 of the Musnad e Imam Azam”. It states that Allah Almighty has placed healing in four things, and its explanation is presented in a brief manner:

Four things that contain healing

1-Healing in Kalonji:

The use of Kalonji is the Sunnah of the Prophet. Allah Almighty has placed healing in Kalonji. The reason for this is explained in another narration in the following words:

الحبة السوداء فيها شفاء من كل داء الا الموت ( کتاب الطلب لابی نعیم)

The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Kalonji is a cure for every disease except death".

2- Healing through cupping:

Cupping removes bad blood and brings about healing. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) himself used to have cupping, and it is as if cupping has become a Sunnah. In this regard, Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

الحجامة تنفع من كل داء الا فاحتجموا ( دیلمی )

"Cupping is beneficial for every disease, so be careful! So get cupping".

3- Healing in Honey:

Allah Almighty has placed healing for ulcers in honey, So Allah Almighty said:

فيه شفاء للناس ۔ (النحل : ۲۹ )

“In it is healing for people.” (An-Nahl: 29) There is healing in honey for people. This shows that honey is a great blessing from Allah Almighty.

4- Healing in Rainwater:

Allah Almighty has also placed healing in the heavenly water, i.e. rain water. So Allah Almighty said:

وَانزَلْنَا مِن السَّمَاءِ مَاءً طَهُورًا

"We sent down pure water from the sky". (Al furqan:68) 

In another place in the Quran, Allah Almighty said:

وَنَزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً مَبَارَكًا (ق:9)

"And We sent down blessed water from the sky".

The water that Allah Almighty has called pure, clean, and blessed, will now also be healing.
