Can we give the meat of the sacrifice (Qurbani) to a non-Muslim?

Can we give the meat of the sacrifice (Qurbani) to a non-Muslim?

And can we store it for more than three days?

Sacrifice is obligatory on every wealthy Muslim in Islam, and it is a very virtuous act. The animal that is set aside for sacrifice for the sake of Allah becomes a sign of Allah, it is mentioned in Surah Al-Hajj, you can read about it in detail there.

Thus, the meat of the sacrificial animal is also considered very sacred, and eating the meat of the sacrificial animal is also the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and if someone eats it with the intention of acting on this Sunnah, he will be rewarded by Allah Almighty.

Giving the sacrificial (Eid ul Adha) meat to Non-Muslims:

The sacrificial meat can be given to non-Muslims, however, it is better to distribute the sacrificial meat among needy Muslims.

Storing sacrificial meat for more than three days:

In the beginning of Islam, Muslims were dominated by poverty and hardship. Only a few people sacrificed, while many did not sacrifice due to poverty. During this period, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered the rich people not to store the meat of the sacrifice for more than three days, so that the poor could also have the meat of the sacrifice to eat.

Then, when circumstances changed and the number of Muslims performing sacrifices increased, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) allowed Muslims to store the sacrificial meat for more than three days.

Taking advantage of this hadith, modern people store sacrificial meat in freezers and refrigerators, etc., and continue to fill their stomachs with sacrificial meat for weeks or even months.

Evidence for keeping sacrificial meat for more than three days:

  1.  Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: I had forbidden you from storing sacrificial meat for three days so that the wealthy could provide for the poor. But now you can eat the sacrificial meat however you want, feed it to others, and store it.
  2.     Hazrat Abis bin Rabi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that Hazrat Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) was asked whether the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade hoarding the meat of the sacrifice? Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) replied: No, but the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: I want those who sacrifice to feed the meat of their sacrifices to those who cannot afford to sacrifice.
