5 sunnah on sleeping by the prophet mohammad
Five Sunnah acts at bedtime:
What surah did the prophet recite before sleeping?
What did prophet mohammad do before going to sleep?
Sleep is one of the most important blessings of Allah Almighty. That is why Allah Almighty mentioned sleep in the Holy Quran as follows:
Translation:
“And We made your sleep a means of
interruption of work”.
This means that a person stops all
his work and finds peace and comfort through sleep, and relieves his fatigue
throughout the day.
5 sunnah on sleeping by the prophet mohammad
Why not achieve this sleep according
to the method of our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). When
we arrange our sleep according to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah, then
this sleep will surely become even more blessed for us.
Five essential actions before going
to bed:
1 - It was narrated from Hazrat
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of
Allah be upon him) said:
When you go to bed to sleep, recite
Surah Al-Fatihah and Surah Al-Ikhlas (saying, “He is Allah, the One”), and you
will be safe from everything except death.
2 - It is narrated from
Sayyiduna Ibn Sariyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace
and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to recite the Mussabbahat before going
to sleep and would say that there is a verse in them that is better than a thousand
verses.
What are the Musbahat?
Musbahat means those Surahs that
begin with the word Sabbah “ سَبَّحَ”
(Glory be to Allah).
And these seven Surahs are:
1-Surah Bani Israel,
2-Surah Al-Hadid,
3-Surah Al-Hashr,
4-Surah Al-Saff,
5-Surah Jumu’ah,
6-Surah At-Taghabun
7-Surah Al-A’la.
The narrators of the hadith say that
the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) would recite some
verses from these Surahs, but not the entire Surahs.
3 - Hazrat Nawfal (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Holy
Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me:
recite the entire Surah and then go to sleep, for this is absolution from
polytheism.
4 - It is narrated from Hazrat Sayyiduna Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah
be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah
be upon him) said: Whoever recites this three times when going to bed:
Translation:
“I seek forgiveness from Allah, besides whom
there is no god but He, the Living, the Self-Subsisting. And to Him I turn”.
Benefit:
Allah Almighty forgives his sins even if they
are equal to the foam of the sea, even if they are equal to the leaves of
trees, even if they are equal to the grains of sand of dunes, even if they are
equal to the days of the world.
5 - The last four verses of Surah Al-Kahf.
