Introduction and virtues of Surah Yasin:

The name of this surah is Yasin. This word is a combination of two letters which are mentioned in the first verse of this surah and due to the mention of these two letters in the first verse, this surah is distinguished and distinct from the rest of the surahs. This surah is also called Qalb e Qur’an, which means the heart of the Holy Qur’an.

Virtues of Surah Yasin in Hadiths:

• The Heart of the Holy Quran:

Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Everything has a heart and the heart of the Qur’an is this, and whoever recites it, Allah will reward him for reciting the Qur’an ten times. (Sunan al-Tirmidhi)

• Surah Yasin is the source of forgiveness:

 Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA) narrates that a person who recites Yasin in a night for the pleasure of Allah, the Exalted, will be forgiven in that night. (Sunan Al Darmi)

• Needs will be met: 

Ata bin Abi Rabah narrates that I have come across this hadith that the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Whoever recites Yasin in the early part of the day, his needs will be fulfilled.” (Sunan Al-Darmi, Hadith Number 3319)

• Recitation of Surah Yasin is a source of ease for life:

Shahr bin Hushab narrates that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Whoever recites Surah Yasin in the morning, it will be made easy for him until evening, and whoever recites Yasin at the beginning of the night, it will be made easy for him in that night until morning. (Sunan Dharmi amount of hadith 3420)

• Recitation of Surah Yasin on the dead:

 Hazrat Muaqal bin Yasar (RA) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “Sura Yasin is the heart of the Qur’an; whoever recites it for the pleasure of Allah and the Hereafter, Allah will forgive his past sins. Recite Surah Yasin over your deceased. (Al-Sunan Al-Kubri)

• The desire of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him): 

Imam Bazar narrated on the authority of Hazrat Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: I like that every person from my Ummah should have Surah Yasin in his heart. 

• Surah Yesin increases wealth and eases child delivery:

Imam Bayhaqi has narrated from Abu Qalaba in Sha’b al-Iman that the person who recites Surah Yasin will be forgiven. And whoever is afraid of lack of food (Rizq) recites Surah Yasin, then that food (Rizq) will be sufficient for him, and whoever recites Surah Yasin near the deceased will find it easy for him. And if Surah Yasin is recited to a woman who is having difficulty in giving birth, the child will be delivered easily. And whoever reads Surah Yesin, it is as if he has read the Qur’an eleven times, and everything has a heart, and the heart of the Qur’an is Surah Yesin.
