Description and importance of women (wives) in
the Holy Quran:
The first relationship that Allah created after
the creation of man is the relationship between husband and wife. On this
earth, man is connected with many relationships, all these relationships are
very honorable and worthy of respect. But the relationship of the wife has a
unique position because this relationship has been mentioned by Allah as one of
His Signs. Allah Almighty has described this relationship in many places in the
Holy Quran.
Therefore, Allah Almighty says:
(1)
And among His signs is that He created for you
mates from your own offspring so that you may find comfort in them. And He has
established between you love and compassion; surely in this are signs for those
who reflect.
(Surah Al- Rum : 21)
Similarly, Allah Almighty said at another place:
(2)
Translation:
It is He (Allah) who created you from a single
soul, then made it his wife so that he may find peace in it.(Surah
Al-A’raf:189)
Wife and husband are each other’s clothes:
Allah Almighty says:
(3)
Translation:
They are clothing for you and you are clothing
for them. (Surah Al-Baqarah:187)
Wives of Prophets (علھم السلام):
(4)
And indeed We sent Messengers before you And We
created for them wives and children, (Surah Al-R’ad:38)
Marriages from one to four:
(5)
Translation:
If you fear that you will not be able to do
justice to the orphan girls, then marry the women you like, two, three, and
four.(Surah Al-Nisa:3)
It is detailed in this verse that if you cannot
do justice to more than one wife, then one is enough.
Ahadith about virtues of marriage:
(1) - Imam Muhammad bin Ismail Bukhari narrates:
Hazrat Abdullah bin Masoud narrates that the
Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: O group of
young people, whoever among you has the power to settle a house should get
married, because marriage protects the sight And he protects the private parts
more, and whoever among you does not have the strength to marry should fast,
because fasting will reduce his lust.
(Sahi Bukhari)
(2) - Imam Muhammad ibn Yazid ibn Majah narrates:
Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her)
narrates that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said, “Marriage is
according to my Sunnah.” Who did not follow my Sunnah. He is not on my
(perfect) way. He who has the strength should marry, and he who does not have
the strength should fast, because fasting is his desire will reduce.
(Ibn e majah)
(3) - Imam Abu Isa Muhammad bin Isa Tirmidhi narrated:
Hazrat Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him)
narrates that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Four things
are the Sunnah of the Prophets: circumcision, putting on perfume, applying
maswak, and marriage.
(Sunan Tirmizi)

Purposes of Marriage:
There are several purposes of getting married
which are mentioned below:
Marriage is the cause of multiplicity of ummah:
Marriage is the reason for the multiplicity of
the Ummah and the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) will
be proud of the multiplicity of the Ummah on the Day of Judgment. Therefore, it
is narrated by Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy
Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Marry women who give birth to more children,
because on the Day of Judgment I will be proud of the abundance of my Ummah in
front of other Prophets. (Al-Musnad Lamam Ahmad bin Hanbal)
Lust is controlled by marriage:
One of the purposes of marriage is that lust is
eliminated through it. Lust is something that can lead to adultery at any time.
In this regard, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) said: A man secures half of his
religion due to marriage, and to protect the other half of his religion, he
must fear Allah. (Al-Tabarani)
Marriage (Nikah) is the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH):
Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: He who
loves my Sunnah loves me. And whoever loves me will be with me in paradise.
Marriage is the cause of survival of the human
race:
The purpose of marriage is not only to fulfill
one’s own desire, but the purpose of marriage is to increase the human race.
That is why the meaning of Prophet Muhammad’s saying: Marry a healthy woman and
marry a woman who gives birth to more children.
