Virtues and Benefits of Umrah:

Allah Almighty says in the Holy Qur'an regarding Hajj and Umrah:


"
وَ أَتِمُّوا الْحَجَّ وَ الْعُمْرَةَ لِلّٰهِؕ (البقرہ)

Translation:
"And complete the Hajj and Umrah for Allah."

Explanation:

The meaning of this part of the blessed verse is that when a person makes the intention for Hajj or Umrah and wears the Ihram, then he should not show any negligence in its performance. He should perform all the rituals and actions properly.

Meaning of Umrah:

The literal meaning of Umrah is “visit”, and in Islamic terminology it means:
To wear Ihram from the Miqat (fixed boundary), perform Tawaf (circumambulation) of the Kaaba, and perform Sa’i between Safa and Marwah.

Virtue of Umrah in the Light of Hadiths:

Just like Hajj to the House of Allah, Umrah also has great virtue mentioned in Islam. That is why Umrah is also called "Minor Hajj" (Hajj-e-Asghar). A few blessed Hadiths related to this are presented below:

1- Hazrat Amr bin Abasah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
The best deed is: a righteous Hajj or a righteous Umrah.

2- Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Holy Prophet said:
One Umrah erases the sins committed between it and the next Umrah.
(Sharh Musnad Imam Azam – Mishkat)

3- Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
Those who perform Hajj and Umrah are the guests of Allah. If they pray, Allah accepts their prayers, and if they seek forgiveness, Allah forgives them.

4- Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
Follow Hajj and Umrah repeatedly, for they eliminate poverty and sins just as the furnace removes impurities from gold and silver.

5- Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
The Jihad of the elderly, weak, and women is Hajj and Umrah.

6- Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
Whoever wears the Ihram for Umrah from Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem), his sins will be forgiven.
