How to pray eid  (Method of eid prayer):

Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha have great importance in Islam. Muslims all over the world celebrate these two Eids with great religious fervor and enthusiasm.

How to pray eid 

History of the Two Eids:

When the Holy Prophet (PBUH) migrated from Mecca to Medina, the people of Medina used to celebrate two days a year as games. He (PBUH) forbade them from celebrating these two days and instead allowed them to celebrate two days as Eids. One day is Eid al-Fitr, which is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal al-Mukarramah to complete the fast, while the second day is Eid al-Adha, which is celebrated as a Sunnah of Abraham.

The day of Eid begins with a prayer called the Eid prayer. It is obligatory to perform the Eid prayer, and the Eid prayer is obligatory on everyone who is obliged to perform the Friday prayer.

Method of Eid prayer:

The Eid prayer consists of two rak’ahs and has six additional takbirs, and these takbirs are obligatory.

Prayer intention:

Two rak’ahs of Eid al-Fitr/Eid al-Adha obligatory prayer with six additional takbirs, I pray for the sake of Allah Almighty, my face towards the Qiblah Sharif, behind the Imam.

The Imam will begin the prayer with the Takbir Tahrimah, then after the Tsana and before the Ta’wudh Tasmiyah, he will say three Takbirs. On the first two Takbirs, the hands should be raised to the ears and released, and on the third Takbir, the hands should be raised to the ears and folded. Then the Imam will recite aloud. In this way, the first rak’ah will be completed,

And then in the second rak’ah, the first recitation will be done, and before bowing, three takbirs will be said. On the first three takbirs, the hands should be raised to the ears and left, and the fourth takbir will be for bowing, on which one should go into bowing without raising their hands.

Then they will complete the prayer like other normal prayers. After the prayer, the Imam will deliver a sermon. And this sermon is Sunnah.

Note: If someone misses the Eid prayer in congregation, he cannot pray it alone. This prayer can only be offered in congregation. If someone misses the congregation, he should pray two optional prayers of Chasht instead.
