Worship of Laylat al-Qadr:
One of the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan is Laylat al-Qadr (Night of Power). The virtues of this night are clearly stated in the Quran and Hadith.
Therefore, Allah Almighty says:
“Laylatul Qadr is better than a thousand months”.
(Surah al Qadr)
Worship of Laylat al-Qadr |
That is, spending this one night in worship of Allah is like spending a thousand months in worship of Allah. And this night has been given only to the Ummah of Muhammad as a gift from the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), no other Ummah has been given this night before. Therefore, one should worship Allah Almighty as much as possible on this night.
How to worship on Laylatul Qadr:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
" من قام ليلة القدر ايمانا واحتسابا غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبه "
Whoever stands in prayer on the Night of Power with faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.
In the light of this hadith, it is understood that the main worship of Laylat al-Qadr is the establishment of prayer. Therefore, on this night, one should perform as many voluntary prayers as possible, repent and seek forgiveness, and pray with humility and great humility.
In comparison to the blessings of Allah Almighty, one should remember one’s shortcomings, faults (faults, mistakes, feelings of guilt, etc.) and sins, cry and lament, ask Allah Almighty for forgiveness for one’s sins, and repeatedly seek forgiveness.
Nawafil:
Some righteous people have given specific ways of worshipping on this night. Allama Ismail Haqqi (may Allah have mercy on him) writes:
Some righteous people used to pray ten voluntary prayers in two rak’ahs on Laylat al-Qadr with the intention of staying awake for Laylat al-Qadr.
It is also narrated from some great scholars that: Whoever recites ten verses every night with the intention of Laylat al-Qadr will not be deprived of the blessings of Laylat al-Qadr.
Imam Abu al-Laith (may Allah have mercy on him) stated that the minimum prayer for Laylat al-Qadr is two rak’ahs and the maximum is a thousand rak’ahs. The average is one hundred rak’ahs.
