A proven practice to end poverty:
Once Hazrat Usman Ghani Dhul-Noorin
(may Allah be pleased with him) went to visit Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Masood (may
Allah be pleased with him). He asked him what was bothering him. He said, “I am
bothered by my sins.” Then he asked what he was seeking, and Hazrat Abdullah
ibn Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “I am seeking the mercy of my
Lord.” Then Hazrat Uthman Ghani Dhul-Noorin (may Allah be pleased with him)
said, “Should your family be given alms from the treasury?” In response, Hazrat
Abdullah ibn Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, “O Commander of
the Faithful!”
I do not need it because I have
taught my family something that when they recite it, they will never be in
need. And that is that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of
Allah be upon him) say that whoever recites Surah Al-Waqi’ah every night will
not be in need of anything.
the virtues of surah Al-waqiah
Introduction to Surah Al-Waqi’ah:
The name of the Surah and the reason for its name:
The name of this Surah is
derived from the first verse of this Surah, which is as follows:
إذَا وَقَعَتِ
الْوَاقِعتُ لَيْسَ الوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَة
Translation:
“When the Hour comes,
there will be no one who will lie about its occurrence”.
The Glory of the Revelation:
When the Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allah be upon him) used to tell the Quraysh of Mecca about the
Resurrection, the reckoning of deeds, and the news of Paradise and Hell, the
disbelievers of Mecca used to say that all these were imaginary and hypothetical
things. None of these things would happen, neither would the Resurrection occur
nor would the reckoning of deeds occur. Then Allah Almighty revealed this Surah
that when the Resurrection occurs, there would be no one to deny its
occurrence.
Time of Revelation:
“Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be
pleased with him) narrates that Surah Al-Waqi’ah was revealed in Mecca.”
Surah Al-Waqi’ah was revealed around
the sixth year of Prophethood.
